Abstract

Exclusive enteral nutritions effective in inducing remission in active Crohn's disease. Its efficacy in adults patients is lower than that fusing glucocorticoids, reaching 60-65 % in all cases of active CD.

Inducing remission is more likely in children and adolescents, where enteral nutrition effectivity its he same like glucocorticoids achieving in 80-85 % cases and significantly improves the growth and nutritional status. Enteral nutrition is applied for a long term treatment (a few weeks) in malnourished patients (BMI < 18.5) as either sipping or full nutrition with additional sipping.
