Global food system: How does it work and who does it control?

Abstract

This paper introduces the notion of global foodscapes, based on examples of global production of hunger and undernutrition, diverse movements of foodstuffs within the international trade settings or corporate food regime. It accentuates the role of geographers in dealing with serious problems and injustices brought by global operation of food systems, as well as calls for examining possibilities of change.
