Abstract

The article deals with Foscolo's contribution to autobiographic writing. The study focuses on methods that the author uses, having a particular attention for the foscolanian masks and their functions.

The analysis of Ultime lettere di Jacopo Ortis, Sesto Tomo dell' io and Notizia intorno a Didimo Chierico makes us declare that Foscolo continued, throughout his literary career, a reflection on the concept of identity which had the practice of simulation in the instrument of knowledge.
