Moose (Alces alces) is the largest living cervid and one of the biggest mammals present in Central and Northern Europe. Since the end of Second World War moose have expanded their range towards west and individuals were reported from Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Denmark.

In Central Europe, populations in Poland are viable and since 1950s moose have dispersed to Czech Republic and Germany.
