Abstract
The chapter presents a summary of demestic as well as international historical context in which the Prague School of Sinoogy was formed, with special emphasis on the work of its founder, Jaroslav Průšek. His students are also discussed, including Milena Doleželová-Velingerová, who was active at Toronto University.
