Abstract
František Trávníček (1888-1961) was one of the major figures in Czech linguistics during the 20th century. The aim of the study is to contribute to a comprehensive evaluation of Trávníček's scholarly work and his life in the historical context of the 19th and 20th centuries.
This is done through the analysis of thus far unanalysed primary sources as well as secondary sources.
