Abstract

EDITORIAL: Land Degradation & Development: A new and bright future. Land Degradation & Development(LDD) is a well-established multidisci-plinary global journal, publishing since 1989, almost 30 years, with 116issues.

This represents a significant period of time over which manyresearchers have contributed as authors, reviewers, and Editorial Boardmembers from across many different disciplines. The multidisciplinarynature of LDD provides an important place for researchers from alldisciplinesto come together, sharetheir findings, and discussnew ideas.

The Section Editors will rotate the Editor-in-Chief role betweenthem on a yearly basis and together will drive the journal forward stra-tegically-each Editor focusing on a particular area of research in thejournal; handling papers that are submitted in that area and activelycommissioning new articles and article series within their section. The Section Editors are each working with a team of Associate Editorswho also handle papers in the journal alongside the Section Editors, with the final decision on each one being made by the Section Editor. With our new Section Editors and Associate Editors on board and a renewed focus on global change and land degradation and restoration,we look forward to a bright new future for the journal. To highlightthis, each Section Editor has laid out their thoughts here for the topicsthat they would like to see submitted to their section, and where theythink the research field is headed in each particular area.
