Abstract

Population aging as a global phenomenon of the 21st century. Population aging is nowadays a frequent issue in demography - it affects or likely will affect most of the world's populations.

At the same time, it brings many risks in terms of e.g. the burden on social systems. The article focuses on the absolute increase in the number of seniors in the world population and in the comparison of Africa and Europe.

It is obvious that the number of the oldest people is likely to be multiplied, the number of people in the lower age will grow at a slower rate, in the case of Europe, it may even decline.
