Biological treatment in immunoallergology

Abstract

Biological treatment targets immune processes in the body, changes their course, and alleviates the pathological process. In the field of immunoallergology, monoclonal humanized antibodies are used today in diagnoses of bronchial asthma, atopic eczema, and chronic spontaneous urticaria.

Studies on the diagnosis of chronic hyperplastic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis are promising. Monoclonal antibodies are directed against one antigen according to their type.

For example, this antigen may be an immunocompetent effector cell receptor, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, or a particular immunoglobulin. The most extensive use has been made of biological treatment with monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of allergic and eosinophilic bronchial asthma.
