Abstract
Many patients who suffered from alcohol abuse or addiction are also diagnosed with other mental disorders. The high prevalence of this comorbidity has been documented in multiple studies.
The presence of these comorbidies increased treatment complications, increased number and duration of hospitalisation. The early diagnostic of alcohol abuse is needed for regular treatment of these comorbid patients.
There are several biomarkers and screening scales for early detection of alcohol abuse and addiction. There is a short summary of these diagnostic tools in this article.
