This chapter examines the impact of corruption on individuals, teams and wider organizations. It begins with clarification of the meaning of corruption, informed by its relation to 'integrity', which involves the honest representation of one's identity.
It argues that corruption involves a breakdown of meaning and practice in sport, hence a corruption of the integrity of sport. This involves the integrity of sport itself; personal integrity in sport; the organizational integrity of sport; and procedural integrity in the sport event.
The chapter uses case studies to illustrate the effects of corruption across these aspects of meaning and practice in sport.
