The author, a prominent Czech politician and political scientist, has been lecturing at the Faculty of Law in Prague since 1994 on the historical context of concrete political phenomena and, of course, what he has experienced in real politics - at the top of executive power and then legislature. The reader may not look for a complete political textbook in these scripts (written lectures), but a focused, intriguing argument - warning against the decline of public space.
Previously in front of great ideologies, today against the rising waves of new populism and nationalism. And so again and again number of conscious and unconscious enemies of politics increases.
The author has struggled with these enemies most of his life - and he has not been always on the side of the winners. It is not yet and will never be win conclusively: that is why - not for the enrichment of political science as an attempt at science - the author has decided to reconstruct almost twenty five years of his speeches to the students.
