Abstract

The chapter sums up the history of the town of Česká Lípa (Böhmisch Leipa) in the baroque period. It is focused on the recatholicisation, events of the Thirty Years' War and the wars during the reign of Mary Therese, the plague epidemies and peasant revolts in the 17th and 18th centuries, the inner evolution of the city and its administration, its relations to the manorial lords (the houses of Kaunitz and Waldstein), demographic and cultural development.

The chapter includes also pictures with detailed descriptions. The references concerning used sources and literature are attached at the end of the monograph.
