The present article emphasizes patients' rights, but also points out that the unlawful processing of medical doctors' personal data may infringe privacy and also may infringe economic rights. The article describes the most important rights and obligations of the personal data processing.
The observance of such rules is a condition for the dignified provision of health services in the 21st century. The article is based on the views of leading personal data processing experts and the views of the Working Party on the Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Processing of Personal Data.
Such text may inspire disgruntled patients, but also by enlightened health service providers and hospital directors and doctors whose personal rights have been affected by patient's slander.
