A series of independent studies which at the same time are linked by inter-references and follow on from one other. Together they show the events and tradition of the Czech Reformation as a specific and yet integral part of the European Reformation and Protestantism as a whole.
The first part of the book is devoted to semantic clarification, following the genesis of the term Reformation and how it took shape, both generally and in terms of the correlation between the "European" and "Czech" Reformations. The second part focuses on the specific ways in which the Czech and European aspects of the Reformation merged together, firstly by analysing Luther's reflections on the Hussite legacy, and then by studying examples of the reception of Luther's message in the Czech lands during the 16th and 17th centuries.
Finally, the third part deals with the impact of the traditions formed in this way and how they were reflected on in the Czech lands down to the present day by examining the celebrations of the major anniversaries of the Reformation in 1617, 1717, 1817, 1867, 1917, 1967, and 2017.
