No way to have your say out of the frame: specifying valency of multi-word expressions

Abstract

Some multi-word lexemes show a significant degree of variability. General principles of morphology and syntax are manifested both in the formation of words and forms the variant and modifiability of parts of lexeme, as well as valence addition possibilities and syntactic transformations.

The permeability of common and lexical-specific properties of lexemes in multiword expressions also manifests itself in the partial reconciliation with the valence requirements of their components. Therefore, it happens that valence dictionaries represent selected types of multi-word expressions as part of a one-word password.

Our proposal to organize a phrasal dictionary is about describing all types of multiword expressions without having to redundant determination of the general properties of lexemes. The article shows problems related to the application of this principle on the example of valence and syntactic transformations.
