Abstract
In 2018, Association of Library and Information Professionals of the Czech Republic and with it 120 libraries from the Czech Republic joined the International Bookstart project with a pilot version of its own project "S knížkou do života" (Bookstart), which met with great approval. One of the tools that libraries can help to successfully implement the project should be this guide.
It provides a brief, but very comprehensible and instructive insight into the issue of both librarians and the parent community. On several pages, the basic pedagogical-psychological principles and information for working with a book (reading, telling) with the smallest children in families (from birth to three years of age) are summarized.
It also contains brief tutorials, instructions and advice on how can motivate children to read. It also includes scenarios of some successful libraries' activities for this age group and library experience.
