The European Union directives oblige Member States to achieve the result without prescribing form and methods to meet them. As a result of this characteristic feature, Member States' legislation may still considerably differ even after transposition.
The article demonstrates the variation of selected national law and regulations changes resulting from the implementation of a relatively strict EU legal standard, Directive (EU) 2016/97 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 January 2016 on insurance distribution (recast), in the Czech and Slovak Republic.
