Based on extensive prosopographic materials, the author analyses academic migration of teachers active at medical faculties in Prague in 1848-1945. The introduction outlines the main tendencies of academic migration, especially within the German-speaking part of Central Europe.
The core of the study consists of an analysis of relations between medical faculties in Prague and Vienna both before and after 1918. Changes in migration models are interpreted, among other things, in connection with radical political changes which took place in Central Europe, especially in watershed years of 1918, 1938/1939, and 1945.
