Bullous pemphigoid is the most common type of the pemphigoid category. It is a chronic autoimmune, blistering disease.
Clinically we typically find taut blisters filled with clear fluid on elevated, erythematous skin. They are most commonly located in the axillar area, the lateral neck area, the groin, inner thighs and upper abdomen.
Bullous pemphigoid can be fatal, especially in weakened, older patients.
