Assisted self-assessment as a tool to improve quality of long term care

Abstract

An action research was conducted in nine organisations to pilot Vážka(R) self-assessment tool for institutions providing care of people with dementia developed by the Czech Alzheimer society (CALS). At the beginning of the process organisation's vision and priorities were defined, with quality of services playing an important role.

Criteria of Vážka(R) became part of the overall assessment conducted by the organisations in the framework of strategic planning. As a result of the assistance 9 facilities obtained the certificate.
