Abstract
The aim of this text is to map the history, development and the present state of the Czech colony and to put the particular case of the sugar factory in Gorna Oryahovitsa into the wider context of the Czech migration to Bulgaria. The present paper summarizes some of the field research findings in Bulgaria (2016).
These are supplemented by information from archive materials and literature. Field research was mainly focused on establishing contacts and interviewing local residents, searching for and collecting archive materials, mapping and documentation of the locality.
