Abstract

The text deals with the intervention of the Czech traveler Vojtěch Frič in the clashes of German settlers with Indians in southern Brazil in the years 1907-1908. It maps the accessible sources, the repercussions of the events in Europe as well as the impact of Frič's activities upon the conception of the protection of native inhabitants, formulated by the Brazlian government in subsequnt decades.
