During Winter Olympic Games 1928 in St. Moritz Association Internationale Medico-Sportive (today FIMS) was founded. 32 delegates from 11 countries (including Czechoslovakia - dr.
Guhr) were present. There were 43 member countries in FIMS in 1968, 82 member countries in 1988 and recently FIMS has 119 member countries.
Several Czechoslovak sports medical specialists actively participated in the FIMS activities - as executive and/or committee members - prof. Jiří Král, prof.
Ludevít Komadel, prof. Dušan Hamár, prof.
Miloš Máček and some others. World congress of FIMS is organized every other year.
Last one was held in Rio de Janeiro in 2018.
