Hypoglycemia in a female patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus and heart failure treated with an intensified insulin regimen

Abstract

The case report presents a hypoglycemia in a female patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus treated with an intensified insulin regimen. It might have been caused by a too long interval from the food intake to insulin administration, possibly accompanied by an inadequate carbohydrate reserve due to a chronic low intake of carbohydrates in the food.

A home care service was established to check insulin administration and carbohydrate intake in our patient.
