Basis: Badminton is an example of the sports with unilateral load. Increasing prestige of this sport recently carries extensive demands in motor abilities of players such as speed, adroitness, force and coordination and endurance.
To provide the correct function and effectiveness of motion it is necessary to have sufficiently strengthened body core with an effort to compensate emerged dysbalancles. Group and methods: Aim of this study was to assess the effect of rehabilitation on the function of lumbar spine assessed by clinical tests (shortened muscles by Janda, lateral flexion of trunk, Trendelenburg's test, Thomayer's test, tests for deep stabilization system according to Kolar and test on four limbs according to Luomajoki) with interval 3 and 10 weeks. 12 badminton players (7 women: 166, 5 +-4, 9 cm, 56, 1 +-5, 8 kg, 15, 1 +- 0, 7 years old, 5 boys 179, 0 +- 4, 5 cm, 68, 6 +- 4, 0 kg 15, 2 +- 1, 3 years old) participated on the study.
Compensatory exercises were performed with the frequency 2-3 times a week; duration of exercise was 15-20 minutes. Conclusion: The results showed significant improvements in the test of lateralflexion of trunk, improvements in deep stabilisation system tests and in the test on four limbs.
Restoration of physiologic range of motion in all tested joints was observed within 10 weeks. Hence, it was showed that rehabilitation positively influences the lumbar area of young badminton players.
