The contribution deals with the Mexican monastic architecture that originated in the territory of contemprary Central Mexico in the 16th century with in order to christianize its indigenous peoples. The aim is to explore the transformations of Mexican monastic architecture and its artistic decorations over time, but also the possibilities of its exploration from the point of view of various scientific disciplines, namely history, art history and anthropology.
In conclusion, the question arises about the possibilities and boundaries of the interdisciplinary approach, specifically the anthropological approaches and their use in the history of art.
