Abstract

We are presenting a case of a pregnant patient with familial chylomicronemia associated with severe lipoprotein lipase deficiency and recurrent acute pancreatitis. Conservative therapy was focused on the nutritional as well as metabolic support of the treatment for familial chylomicronemia.

The patient did not reach the target and optimal lipid values within hospitalization, however she considerably benefited from a diet with a reduced fat content (up to 30 g fat per day), when the reduction of total cholesterol by 0.86 mmol/L to 4.42 mmol/L, and by 9.09 mmol/L to 10.42 mmol/L for triacylglycerols was achieved within 5 days of hospitalization.
