Abstract

The chapter provides an outline of the reception of Old Norse culture and especially literature in the Anglophone sphere from the 17th century to the first half of the 20th century. Notable authors, representatives of the reception of Old Norse culture in literature written in English, are mentioned, and significant works from this area are introduced along with their brief analysis.

Important schools of thought and artistic movements, which influenced the examined works of literature throughout the centuries, are also acknowledged in the chapter. Some of the works' analyses include extracts from the original texts, translated into Czech.
