The aim of this article is to analyse asylum law on the territory of the former German Democratic Republic. After the first part of the article, the author describes GDR's migration law and migration policy.
Subsequently, the article focuses on constitutional regulation of asylum in particular and on reception of "political emigrants". In the next part, the author deals with changes of asylum law arriving since the process of transformation of legal system until German reunification.
Finally, the author demonstrates the basic attributes of GDR's law on foreigners and asylum law.
