Abstract

The author elaborates on Punctuated Equilibrium theory and its implications for today's militaries as well as on the utility of social sciences in general. The text provides the author's observations and ideas from a military practitioner's point of view.

Using his own experience, the author strives to illustrate the relevance of major conclusions on Punctuated Equilibrium theory and study of social collapse for today's military practice. The author also comes to conclusion that it is desirable to integrate social scientists stronger into the struggle of solving current military problems.
