The policy of Great Britain, influenced especially the situation of Spain that thus did not obtain the necessary support that it requested to its allies. In that period we are talking about the beginning of the great rapprochement between the United States and Great Britain.
Therefore London supported Washington in that conflict. Consequently, the general picture of relations between the European powers changed and although their approaches to the conflict were opposite, they all exerted pressure on the United States and Spain in order to reduce mutual tensions.
The paper is based on the articles devoted to archival materials, especially in England, and the titles that deal with the issue of conflict.
