The study reconstructs all attempts made to release a novel Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak or parts of it in Czechoslovakia in the first fifteen years after it was finished. The novel was banned in the Eastern Bloc until the end of the eighties.
The Czech translation was published for the first time in 1990, the Slovak one in 1969. The study also describes the visits of Czech and Slovak writers to Boris Pasternak in 1956-1960.
