Reading strategies as support reading comprehension

Abstract

Presented study deals with reading strategies as a possible method of supporting reading comprehension while teaching foreign languages. In the first part it defines comprehension as a cognitive process affected by different factors; one of them is the method how teachers instruct pupils.

Next parts define coherence between reading skills and reading strategies and brings appropriate strategies for developing reading comprehension. In conclusion, it briefly summarizes internationl experiences and situation in Czech republic.
