Problem with "Islam": three dimensions of islamophobia

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2018

Abstract

Islamophobia refers to attitudes associated with open hostility to Islam or Muslims, that are increasingly present in the public space since the 1990s. It is also a political phenomenon that has in the past ten years dominated the media space in Europe and the US and also became the strategy of many populist projects.

It manifests itself in a civilisationist, culturalist and finally an anti-Islamic discourse.
