The primary intention of this work was to bring information on the research, development, and construction of advanced microreactor platforms for the syntheses of fine chemicals. A brief overview was provided on the systems used for practical gas and liquid phase reactions, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic reactions, polymerizations, and also for reactions with involvement of light.
Then an attention was paid to the tubular continuous microreactors, especially to those which are usually referred to as microfluidic chips. In the past, these microfluidic reactors have been used for various organic reactions in the field of fine chemistry.
Finally, an algorithm has been described for a validation of the microfluidic reactor platform for flow conditions of specific solvents mixtures used in stereoselective hydrogenation of beta-ketoesters with chiral metal complexes, and in the presence of specific ionic liquids.
