The book is concerned with the population of Czech speaking Protestants who lived in two Bulgarian villages - Vojvodovo in North-Western Bulgaria and Belinci in Eastern Bulgaria - in the first half of 20th century. It focuses mainly on the ways of handling and passing of the family property on younger generations, the marriage strategies and the idea of the "good marriage" and the naming practices and associated customs and beliefs.
It is framed by the local ideas of relatedness and the notions connected with the processes how people become relatives. The book is an outcome of the field research conducted by the author since 2006 among the people, who "resettled" in 1949/1950 from Bulgaria and now live in South Moravia.
It is based on fieldwork but uses also the theoretical background of historical anthropology. The book attempts to "reveal" the world of the Czech "compatriots" and their notions of the processes connected with engendering, bearing and rearing of children and the family relationships.
