The chapter introduces us to the issue of the current conception of teaching the writing of the joined and unjoined scripts at the beginning of school as part of the continuous development of the initial literacy (writing). In the current, so-called literacy concept of writing instruction was gradually abandoned from the requirement to accurately imitate the shape of the prescribed letter and the basic requirement for the quality of the pupil's performance became readability along with the writing skills used in everyday situations.
The chapter presents individual characteristics of didactics of writing in both patterns of scripture, stages, methodical procedures and assesses their possible advantages and disadvantages. It deals with its changes from the traditional conception of teaching to the present with emphasis on the quality of didactic work of the teacher, on the development of inner motivation of the pupil, continuity of pre-primary and primary education and a friendly, safe climate in teaching writing and other aspects.
