Abstract

The paper describes the content and process of the workshop realized within the conference Innovation in teaching practice. Along with a theoretical basis are presented three of more than thirty substantial learning environments.

In these environments pupils by solving of tasks and problems, by detecting relationships and patterns, build their mathematical knowledge and develop not only mathematical, but also social skills. One environment is arithmetic and semantic, one arithmetic and structural and one geometric and manipulative.

While solving problems, participants could watch the deep potential of different environments, form tasks of varying difficulty so that they are adequately pupils with different dispositions, and escalate them in the long term so as to open and develop deep mathematical ideas. Furthermore, the participants experienced the basic principles Hejný's method, where the foreground is a child and the teacher rather fulfills the role of guide and moderates classroom discussions.
