Lecture within the interdisciplinary symposium on History as Story and Image. The event was held on April 13-14, 2016 by the Literary Archives of the National Literature Memorial, the Department of History and Didactics of History, and the Department of Music Education of the Faculty of Education of the Charles University.
It was held in honor of Vladislav Vančura and on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the first edition of the Images from the History of the Czech Nation. Bohuslav Martinů's Double concert for the solo piano, the drums and two string orchestras was completed on September 29, 1938, on the day the Munich agreement was negotiated.
The composition is permeated by the tragic vision of the upcoming events, belongs to the highly prized compositions of the world repertoire of so-called classics of the 20th century. It is a proof of artwork that creates an image of the time before it is filled.
