The paper focuses on the comparison of the musical culture of Prague and Dresden around 1600. During this period, Prague played crucial role as the Emperor's residence with all the consequences for political, economical and cultural life of the city.
Dresden - the residence of the Elector of Saxony - was one of the most important cultural centres of the Roman Empire in the vicinity of the Czech Lands. Besides the comparison of the cultural situation in both cities, the paper will also examine a migration of music and musicians between Prague and Dresden.
