This text expands upon the concept of the picture-book and other forms of illustrated books as narratives in images and text. It analyses three types of picture-books: a contemporary adaptation of Russian fairy tales in the book by the Japanese author Iku Dekune, Husy Divohusy [The Wild Geese], the distinctive inventions of the Ukrainian illustrator Oksana Bula in her book, Zubr si hledá hnízdo [Bison Looks for a Nest], and Lejlo, přijď domů [Leila, Come Home], the latest illustrated book from among the extensive works of the Swedish artist Eva Lindström.
