Abstract

This article aims to introduce the remote sensing data and methods in the field of forest vegetation with an emphasis on the European satellite mission Sentinel. An investigation of the ongoing bark beetle calamity in the Jeseníky Mountains was carried out using the Sentinel-2 data.

This study demonstrated the high capabilities of remote sensing methods and freely available Sentinel-2 data in the evaluation of forest vegetation changes and health condition of the forest.
