Public space has been consistently theorized and studied from many points of view. My aim is to introduce a new approach that I developed in my recent book and that I call "a deictic perspective".
It is an innovative amalgam of Bühlerian linguistics with post-structural linguistic anthropology and social semiotics that is capable of analyzing communicative interactions and other phenomena constitutive of public space. The main question of my talk is: What can we see in the Czech and German media and public space if we observe them from a deictic perspective?
