The constitutional solution of the status of minorities is enshrined in the 1991 Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms, which was taken over from the federation. In Czechoslovakia, there were different conditions in many ways.
The vast majority of the rights enshrined in the Charter concern only the Poles in the Czech Republic, although the wording of the Charter would indicate otherwise. Thus, an older development in Czechoslovakia will be highlighted, especially with regard to the 1968 constitutional law on the status of nationalities.
It was also inspired by the 1920 Constitution concepts, which were based on the status of minorities in international law.
