Abstract
The consideration follows values of reciprocity, individual human sense of belonging and group solidarity in totalitarian Czechoslovakia, respectively it searches scientific framework for individuals' attitudes to the phenomenon of mental disability in context of the majority concept of difference in the communist company. It is based on research conducted in the years 2011 - 2012 the oral method of analyzing the experience of twenty-eight parents (resp. twenty-four families) children with intellectual disabilities.
Consideration offers wider understanding otherness in relation to contemporary democratic and social changes.
