Panel discussion "European Remembrance : Europe in 1989 and 2019" focused on the remembrance practices over the past thirty years in general and, in particular, on the role of civil society in building trans-european solidarity, fuelling poitical and economic transformation and bringing Europe and Europeans together. Professor Wlodzimierz Borodziej from the University of Warsaw, dr.
Martina Steer from New York University and dr. Tomáš Samek from Charles University in Prague took part in the discussion, which was moderated by Director General Paraskevi Michou from the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs, European Commission.
The high-level event unfolded within the framework of the Europe for Citizens project and within the section called "History Defines Our Future"; it was organized by the European Commission in the House of European History in Brussels on 3rd April 2019.
