Abstract
The Czech Society for Music Education (SHV ČR) is one of the oldest organizations of this kind in the international context. It has a rich and varied eight decades, in which, among other things, the social and political conditions are reflected.
This article attempts to give a brief overview of the Society for Music Education and to mention the important names of Czech music education, which were closely related to society and shaped music education in the Czechoslovak Republic and later in the Czech Republic.
