Huge progress has been seen in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in the past 20 years. Over time, clinical outcomes of patients with RA have been improved with new treatment strategies resulting in a decline in functional disability of these patients.
Through continued advancement of therapeutic intervention, the development of modern treatment for RA allowed shared decision making by the patient and the rheumatologist. However, there is still a long way to go with the treatment of RA as not enough patients are achieving their treatment goals.
