This public lecture is focused on the culture history of Czech lands of 16th and first half of the 17th century, mainly on the culture of funeral and commemorative at. In chronological order of the process of dying are described rituals of the good death, elaboration of the burial process and building up of the commemorative monument - the epitaph and the grave - with the discussion about the strategies used on them for the social and monumental body as well as for the eternal memory of the deceased one.
